The Millennial Way…

“The Millennial Way”…. products that are relatable to a more relaxed and efficient lifestyle..after traveling the globe these past few months looking at updated trends…I wanted to share a few of my favorite finds…. Masterbrand Cabinets displayed this bar with custom tap handles at the KBIS/IBS Show in Las Vegas last month. Love the duality of this bar-storage cabinet for some down home entertaining….

Small Spaces….the duality of a work space that twins as an eating area with benches that store underneath for a more practical space solution shown by Masterbrand at KBIS/IBS in Las Vegas last month.  (a great way to bring a pop of color into a space with these fun benches)
Talk about duality with this amazing work space….. garden shed or multi-purpose space…fun sink to bath your family pet!!!! A stylish way to be efficient and organized from Wilsonart.

Monotone Magic

Looking back through my travel photos over the past two weeks it’s interesting to see how non-color is still an important part of interior design from home decor accessories, furniture and tile….many people prefer a more subdued color experience, one that relates to our Nature’s Bounty Trend where natural color and materials blur the lines between outdoor and indoor living. The main focus is on texture…through glass, fiber, digitally printed tiles and wood grain.  Europe2you from The Las Vegas Market Vintage Wood and Glass Dome Serving Set.

Appliance Art-Artisan Style by La Cornue

Most of us might not have an “Artisan” La Cornue Kitchen Range in our home…but let’s just imagine for a minute we did….how does one decide on the color and finish they would want…let alone the style of range?

Just returning from the KBIS {Kitchen and Bath Show} show in Las Vegas this month I saw these “Artisan Appliances” up close and they are beyond beautiful.

The image of our kitchens has really changed over the years because today appliances have become the focal point of the kitchen. Even your basic stainless steel appliance now is accented with knobs in various color choices from primary red and blue to pastel pink.

The mixing of substrates like stainless steel mixed with wood crafted storage options gives these applicances a “nature’s  bounty” feel by mixing man made materials with natural materials, giving these artisan appliances more dimension in style and contour.

Let’s just say….I will continue to dream about what color and style my La Cornue Artisan Range will be when it’s the focal point of my kitchen!!

Las Vegas Market-A Cross Section of Style

Just returned from the Las Vegas Market where manufacturers open up their showrooms to the trade. It was my first time at this market and the diversity of product available in hard as well as soft product  was amazing! What I found most appealing was how easy it is to shop the  three main buildings, as well as the annex tents, filled with gobal greats and antique treasures.

I know as a designer and curator of product, getting an overview of what’s available in the industry is not always easy, so attending this market allowed me to see first hand what the industry is offering in textiles, wall art, wallpaper, tabletop, lighting, furniture and accessories.

Allow me to share some of my “global greats” from The Las Vegas Market.

Classic Home-The perfect mix in texture showing textiles, accent frames and furniture.

Europe2You-Showcasing vintage and reclaimed home products from Europe with this serving board and these vintage dome accessory covers….the perfect example of  what I call “rustic glam” style.  Always fun to see more inspirational outdoor product from Seasonal Living in an array out updated color and style.

Updated Style in the Medieval Town of Dunster, Somerset

Tucked into a 16th century shop in the Medieval town of Dunster, houses a Garden and Home Store with an updated style and sensibility known as the Horse and Crook. Shop owner and curator Abigail Larter has been in business the past 9 years because her style is somewhat unique in this tourist centric town where thousands of people from all over the world come and visit the Dunster Castle and Gardens.

Traveling as I do for my business, shopping trends and style throughout the world it’s refreshing to see a store that is unique to its town…and that is exactly what Abigail has created at the Horse and Crook.

Dunster is a town filled with many eateries and shops that are more tourist centric catering to bus loads of people on excursions to the castle. The Horse and Crook are exactly the opposite as a garden and home store with an updated “rustic glam” style. Abigail seeks out rustic and natural products from many local sources and curators them in an updated fashion. Her terra cotta and cream colored walls really do the trick creating a beautiful backdrop for her carefully curatored products. Succulents displayed in distressed painted pots, rustic frames with hand stamped detailing, hand lettered gift tags and printed textiles are just a few of Abigail’s fun finds at the Horse and Crook.

The Horse and Crook is located at:                  18 High Street in Dunster, Somerset. http://www.horseandcrook.co.uk
