Product Personality at Maison Objet Miami

I was probably the biggest skeptic when I heard two years ago that my favorite overseas show was heading to Miami for its debut in America. It’s been two years now, I have attended both shows, walked all aisles, met new designers, found innovative products and love chillin’ in Maimi…so I guess I am no longer a skeptic and more of a fan!

Happy to share some global greats from this past Maison Objet show which took place in Miami May 10-13.

“Savvy Style” at Architectural Digest Design Show NYC

Attending the Architectural Digest Design Show in NYC is always aspirational because you “meet the makers” of the industry that are creating and designing new products for the interior and exterior of your home!

Included in the assortment of creative products this year are: textiles, furniture, hardware, glassware, lighting, flooring, rugs, paint, wallpaper, accessories and floral design.

Loved seeing the elegant  mix of organic color, shape and texture this year by Pieper Glass and Vietro Vero. Similar organic style was prevelent by floral designers Ovando and Emilio Robba, showcasing simple style and organic elegance!

Creative surface techniques like “concrete wood” by JM Lifestyles and patterned metal by Studio Hira are just a few outstanding examples of artistic style showcased throughout the show.

My pick on furniture….A Tambour Console hand crafted by Poritz & Studio where the wood grain and detailing are both spectacular…

See below for just a few of my favorite finds this year at the Architectural Digest Design Show in NYC at Piers 92 & 94.

Monotone Magic

Looking back through my travel photos over the past two weeks it’s interesting to see how non-color is still an important part of interior design from home decor accessories, furniture and tile….many people prefer a more subdued color experience, one that relates to our Nature’s Bounty Trend where natural color and materials blur the lines between outdoor and indoor living. The main focus is on texture…through glass, fiber, digitally printed tiles and wood grain.  Europe2you from The Las Vegas Market Vintage Wood and Glass Dome Serving Set.

Classic Home LA at the Las Vegas Furniture Market Absract Fabric Dec Pillow.

Appliance Art-Artisan Style by La Cornue

Most of us might not have an “Artisan” La Cornue Kitchen Range in our home…but let’s just imagine for a minute we did….how does one decide on the color and finish they would want…let alone the style of range?

Just returning from the KBIS {Kitchen and Bath Show} show in Las Vegas this month I saw these “Artisan Appliances” up close and they are beyond beautiful.

The image of our kitchens has really changed over the years because today appliances have become the focal point of the kitchen. Even your basic stainless steel appliance now is accented with knobs in various color choices from primary red and blue to pastel pink.

The mixing of substrates like stainless steel mixed with wood crafted storage options gives these applicances a “nature’s  bounty” feel by mixing man made materials with natural materials, giving these artisan appliances more dimension in style and contour.

Let’s just say….I will continue to dream about what color and style my La Cornue Artisan Range will be when it’s the focal point of my kitchen!!

Las Vegas Market-A Cross Section of Style

Just returned from the Las Vegas Market where manufacturers open up their showrooms to the trade. It was my first time at this market and the diversity of product available in hard as well as soft product  was amazing! What I found most appealing was how easy it is to shop the  three main buildings, as well as the annex tents, filled with gobal greats and antique treasures.

I know as a designer and curator of product, getting an overview of what’s available in the industry is not always easy, so attending this market allowed me to see first hand what the industry is offering in textiles, wall art, wallpaper, tabletop, lighting, furniture and accessories.

Allow me to share some of my “global greats” from The Las Vegas Market.

Classic Home-The perfect mix in texture showing textiles, accent frames and furniture.

Europe2You-Showcasing vintage and reclaimed home products from Europe with this serving board and these vintage dome accessory covers….the perfect example of  what I call “rustic glam” style.  Always fun to see more inspirational outdoor product from Seasonal Living in an array out updated color and style.
